YEKi Garden is just starting its journey as a youth-led community garden. (Ages 12 – 18yrs)
Located in the remote rural coastal town of Hopetoun WA. The nearest high school is in the neighbouring
town of Ravensthorpe, 50 km’s away. We have a small, vibrant youth community that is in general,
extremely proud to live in our beautiful biosphere.
Our youth are beach lovers and earth lovers and foster a healthy respect for our earth as a result of
living on this beautiful land we all call home.
Our aim at YEKi is to provide a garden space that nourishes their passion to live life well and to respect the planet, themselves and others, in all the things we do through our decision-making and actions.
YEKi Garden is a whopping 2 meters wide and 40 meters long and runs alongside our new Youth and Arts Space.
In this mighty + small garden, we have 3 x 1 cube composting stations, 3 x 2 cube raised Hügelkultur garden beds, and 3 x ½ cube wicking beds.
We will make our own plant-based liquid inputs for fertilising the garden, our own compost and mulch.
We intend to have worms and bees and of course Bokashi everything else!
Produce in the garden: Our ‘growing’ will encourage wildlife and insects and embrace cultures and hopefully feed a few belly’s.
