The Bongalong St garden was created in 2011 by local residents. It now has 6 large raised beds, 3 of which have been converted to wicking beds.
The garden is open at all times for residents to wander in, pick produce and grow veggies. It aims to utilise the small space by growing small fruit trees or dwarf citrus. Sweet potato is allowed to creep around as a ground cover and in summer the pumpkins clamber into the native trees!
In garden worm farms and a large compost bin has also been incorporated and belonging to ’Sharewaste’ has enabled the community to gain a lot more organic material from local residents to help maintain the gardens.
