Come and experience a fabulous day at Glandore Community Centre with your fellow SA community gardeners!

Our keynote speakers:

  • Sophie Thomson from Gardening Australia will speak about how gardens connect us and
  • Beck Stevens will chat about bugs in the ‘burbs
  • a Maggie Beer chef, Alana will be community up a storm and demonstrating how to use edible weeds and how to utilise the whole of our foods — skin, seeds and all.

There will also be:

  • a session on social media hacks for your garden
  • a community gardens thought forum
  • a tour of Glandore Community Garden
  • stalls from our sponsors
  • there will be plenty of time for networking with your fellow gardeners
  • plus so much more!

Morning and afternoon tea as well as lunch is included in the ticket.

Please bring:

  • your own water bottle
  • keepcup and
  • bag for some goodies.
  • bring some goodies to share on the swap table at the end of the day.
  • remember you will be spending some time outdoors so dress appropriately for the weather and don’t forget your sun protection.

  • 11:45 am: Cooking demo and lunch preparation with Alana

  • 1:00 pm: Workshop with Naomi Lacey — social media hacks for your garden

  • 3:30 pm: Community gardens thought forum with Spirit of Unity

Meet our speaker — Beck Stevens

Beck Stevens has a background in health,m education and science. She is a horticultural and agricultural scientist with a special interest in entomology and is currently undertaking a PhD exploring the effect of netting on arthropod populations in apple orchards.

Beck recently investigated bee hotels located in community garden and parklands across the wider Adelaide region. Her research has increased our knowledge about native bees in urban areas, their essential food sources and the key elements of effective bee hotels.

She is passionate about building strong, resilient, and sustainable communities and is co-ordinator of Happy Patch Community Garden and The Happy Pantry Community Food Co-operative. both located in Aberfoyle Park.
