The Inala Community Garden was initially established by the Inala Young Mums Program in the early 2000s and sits in the grounds of the local Anglican Parish. It has undergone various restructurings and revisions over the years. It continues to be an active community garden, currently run by a volunteer community committee and auspiced by St Hugh’s Anglican church.
Today’s gardeners are culturally and linguistically diverse, across a range of ages and experiences. Garden members have individual plots and mostly grow food specific to their culture to feed their families. This has been a great cross-cultural learning experience for everyone involved in the garden, especially at garden meetings and social events with shared food.
There are also shared garden spaces and composting bays.
