The Hawthorn Community Gardens (Victoria, Australia) was established in 1980.
Our two locations house a collection of 86 garden plots.
Membership fees range from $80-100 per annum, depending on the size of the plot and this includes access to gardening tools, water and social gatherings.
We encourage all members to keep their gardens weed-free and productive at all times.
We recognise that our gardens improve people’s quality of life by providing a catalyst for social interaction, nutritious food production, the reduction of family food budgets, the conservation of resources.
We endeavour to create opportunities for recreation, exercise, education and congregation.
We also aim to involve everyone in the community, no matter their age or physical ability. Our members are encouraged to donate excess produce to community pantries.
