Habitat in Harmony is a huuuuuge permaculture garden in Belmont north.
What we do:
We are all about veggies.
In the scheme of community gardens, our garden is pretty big, and we are able to grow lots and lots of veggies. Our mission is to provide access to cheap, nutritious, organic fruit and vegetables for our community.
We make and sell perfect compost for your garden at home. $4 a bag and 3 for $10.
We also have several worm farms that process all of our organic wastes and produce wonderful worm tea fertilizer which is available for a gold coin donation.
Our values:
We are passionate about sustainable and ecologically sensitive agriculture -drawing on permaculture principles and techniques encompassing a range of different cultivation methods including:
We also believe in providing habitat for threatened native animals and plants and we have a big native garden that supports our native species.
About us:
Habitat in Harmony is the longest-running project of Belmont Neighbourhood Centre and we are supported by the Belmont men’s shed, Trees in Newcastle, JobQuest, Life Without Barriers, HeadStart, Belmont Sporties Club, Lake Macquarie council and residents all around the area!
