The vision for a community garden was conceived over 5 years ago by our community, and after some delays, we now have the momentum to bring it to life! Led by Glynis Saunders (Chair), Tegan Morgan (Secretary), myself as Treasurer, and supported by dozens of dedicated community members, we are ready to make this dream a reality.
Our Mission: The Golden Beach Community Garden aims to create a vibrant, thriving space where people can come together to grow nutritious food, learn invaluable skills, forge lasting friendships, and experience the immense joy of communal gardening. This garden will be a valuable resource for the entire Caloundra community, including Golden Beach and Pelican Waters residents.
Our Vision: With the generous support of the Sunshine Coast Council, we have identified a prime site near the Pelican Waters Bowls Club. The next critical step is to raise the necessary funds to transform this space into a flourishing garden. Our vision includes:
- Shared community garden beds for everyone to enjoy
- Accessible pathways for all members of the community
- Essential infrastructure like garden beds, nutrient-rich soil, and water tanks
- A storage shed with rainwater catchment
Future Plans: Stage 1 is all about laying the foundation with basic infrastructure. In Stage 2, we plan to create dynamic spaces for workshops, arts, and creative activities, all aimed at fostering a sustainable, supportive community.
