Cliff View Community Farm is located on the beautiful Shipley Plateau in the Blue Mountains, NSW in an old apple orchard.
The main focus of our community farm is to grow food that is donated to people in need in our local community. The food we grow is distributed through Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre’s food relief program. We use organic and regenerative agriculture principles in the way we approach growing food. The farm is a place people can come to garden, meet people in a safe and social environment and learn from one another.
We run workshops from time to time on propagation techniques, composting and worm farming. We have a special project underway that is aimed at rejuvenating the old apple orchard and saving some of the old heritage apple varieties through propagation.
Cliff View Community Farm is open to the public every Thursday morning from 9:00 am until midday for our weekly gardening session. We welcome people of all ages, including children.
History
Cliff View Community Farm is a relatively new community farm, starting in mid-2021. The veggie garden was first established by the owner of the property, however, due to circumstances, the owner could no longer maintain the garden. The idea to establish a community farm was welcomed by the owner and the decision was made. Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre auspices the community farm and they have a strong relationship with us.
