The Clayfield UC Community Garden began in 2020 after the COVID lockdowns as a venue for the local community to connect, to provide access to space to share a love of gardening.
Our garden includes 14 raised garden beds, a compost hub, rainwater tanks, up-cycled art, a worm farm, and lots of herbs, vegetables, fruit and flowers.
We operate on a communal basis with gardeners sharing plots and planting crops that we’re interested in growing, or love to eat.
There are over 20 gardeners and composters that regularly tend to the garden. There are avid and novice gardeners of all ages, people who have lots of time and energy to give to the garden and compost hub and people who just want to grab a couple of herbs for their dinner or drop off their excess waste food.
Many of our gardening crew are passionate foodies so we have regular get-togethers to enjoy delicious food.
