In late 2009, Council resolved to investigate the feasibility of a new community garden for the City of Tea Tree Gully, in light of the popularity of Wynn Vale Community Garden set up in the mid-1990s.
Following a survey to residents across the City, around 200 affirmative responses were received. A location was subsequently selected, start-up funding approved by Council and, in early 2012, a new community garden began to unfold at Lyons Reserve, Dernancourt.
A volunteer Management Committee meets regularly to discuss garden design, infrastructure, and administrative matters.
It is envisaged that the garden will be a place of learning, socialising, and friendships across demographics, ages, and abilities for many years to come.
Residents of TTG are welcome to register their interest to participate, ask questions and share their ideas with the Management Committee.
New gardening members welcome. Open to the public on Saturdays from 10:00am – 12 midday.
