Edible Hub Community Garden

Community garden

Basic Information

The Edible Hub garden is part of the Hurstbridge Community Hub, and is managed by a dedicated group of volunteers in accordance with permaculture principles. The garden is open to the public, and provides an inclusive space for people to connect and learn through topics of food growing, community resilience, and sustainability. The produce from the beds is free for everyone to harvest, promoting the concepts of a sharing economy, and the use of communal land for the production of fresh, local food.

The garden has numerous wicking beds, a compost station with three large bins, a small perennial food garden, newly built sensory garden, and a picnic/eating area with tables and chairs. A range of free and low-cost workshops and events are run regularly by the garden volunteers, and advertised through our sister website (SHIFT Inc.) and the Edible Hub Facebook page.

The garden is run in conjunction with a number of related initiatives at the Hurstbridge Hub, including a Food is Free table, twice monthly food swap, seed library, and repair café. See our website for more information on these events (www.shiftinc.org.au).
