Basic Information

The Snake Bean Garden is a community garden nestled in the George Brown Botanical Gardens and run by a committed group of locals in Darwin Australia.

It is located at the Geranium Street entrance.

The garden allows community members to grow fresh food in a sustainable way.

The garden features:

29 community plots
two education plots for schools
chickens
water tank
landscaped creek line for stormwater management.

Edible plants
The garden features edible fruit such as tropical fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices include sugar cane, coffee, cardamom, ginger, gotu kola, sweet leaf, aloe vera, lemongrass, eggplant, tomato, pumpkin, pawpaws, and chillies.

How to get involved
Snake Bean gardeners occasionally meet at Eco House, on the left side of the path surrounded by the food garden.

All community members are welcome to attend.
