The directory locates community gardens across Australia. Almost 800 community gardens appear on our map, but we know there are many more gardens in Australia that don’t appear. It’s not a complete listing of all community gardens, only those which have provided their details.

What is a community garden?
Community gardens are shared green spaces where neighbours grow food, flowers and community together. They appear on council land, schools, churches, or community centres and include:
- Food production gardens
- Medicinal/permaculture gardens
- Pollinator habitats and education centres
- Therapeutic and accessible gardens
- Most are volunteer-run and welcome new members (some have waitlists).
