Earthwise Community

Community garden

Basic Information

Earthwise is a non-funded, volunteer-staffed community. Earthwise undertakes a variety of community and environmental issues.

A busy bee is held every Friday in the organic gardens. Some allotments are in reused fridges as wicking beds.

There is also an Op shop, food centre and a weekly Thursday meal on site.
Successes/opportunities
High community profile. Next to Day Care Centre where we share chickens. Connection strong with the local community through op shop visits, tours, and weekly low cost meals all bring awareness to garden
History of the garden
We always want to use what we have and can get for free to show the community where they can acquire resources. We started through a LEAP course in 1996 and then used Work for Dole programs now all volunteers. It is supported by sales of worms and op-shop sales.
