2014 Sydney regional gathering a great success

Report by Jane Mowbray, 10 August 2014

Thank you (again) Carss Park Community Garden for a wonderful regional gathering yesterday.

Eight community gardens were represented:

  • Miranda
  • Carss Park
  • James St Redfern
  • Bundeena
  • Randwick
  • Mort Bay in Balmain
  • Glovers Garden in Lilyfield and
  • Addison Rd Garden in Marrickville.

Also present was Inner West Seed Savers, the Cancer Survival Cottage, two council representatives, one PhD student, two reps from ACFCGN and Jeanette who is trying to set up a new garden in the Rockdale area. A fabulously productive meeting and a delicious lunch!

The wonderful Carrs Park Community Garden has everything! Productive plots, bush food, sculpture and a straw bale education and entertainment area.

Good to see Carss Park garden going well… what you can do with a disused bowling green. Good, too, to see that people from council attended the gathering.

I don’t know of the Miranda and proposed Rockdale community gardens… things are happening in the southern suburbs.

Thanks, Jane Mowbray, for attending the gathering for the community gardens network.
