Shara Community Gardens is a not for profit community association formed to assist and educate members and the whole local community in regenerative and resilience-building practices. We are a member-based community garden servicing the areas of North Ocean Shores, South Golden Beach, New Brighton, Billinudgel and Ocean Shores.
Our vision for Shara Community Gardens is to bring people together to grow and share food, to participate in and model a share-economy, to learn together and share knowledge, creativity and culture.
We believe we can no longer aim to simply be sustainable, we need to adopt a way of living that gives back to the land more than we take from it. Our life on this planet must be regenerative and healing to the planet.
The site for the community gardens was chosen in 2010 by founding members David and Suzanne. From the seed of conception, with the help of their members they built and grew the garden into what it is today in 2020. We owe a great deal to David and Suzanne and all past committee members for their passion and dedication to creating this wonderful community space for all to enjoy.
