SYDNEY: New farmers’ market in Darlinghurst

A FARMERS' MARKET STARTED IN EARLY MAY in Taylor Square and part
of Forbes Street, Darlinghurst and will continue every Saturday on a
12 month trial.

The market is an initiative of Sydney Sustainable Markets
Incorporated, a locally-based not-for-profit association. It will
enable over 2,000 local residents to access fresh produce including
seasonal fruit and vegetables, free range poultry and eggs, fish,
hand-made pasta, artisan cheeses, organic bread, olive oil, honey,
flowers, and herbs.

The market supports the City of Sydney's commitment to revitalise Taylor Square
and Oxford Street Cultural Quarter and promote sustainable food
options.

Produce will be sourced from regional producers and local home-based
growers and producers around the inner City. Mini-seminars and talks
on urban sustainability are planned as the market grows.

Sydney Sustainable Markets notified the local community of its
project, consulted widely with residents and businesses and sought
feedback prior to lodging its DA.
