There’s two interesting services that may be worth taking a look at.
The first is Mulchnet, a online service connecting local garden maintenance contractors with people need ing mulch, either free of at a reasonable rate.
Because those receiving the mulch might find themselves with too much, the website offers a free excess mulch registration so that others can come and relieve you of your excess.
Tim Lawrence, who started the service, says that he was inspired by permaculture design principles.

Linked from the Mulchnet website is Woblemarket, an online service connecting local growers and food producers with potential eaters. Aimed at reducing the virtual carbon content of food, the site states “… Why are we importing food from overseas and interstate when we often have wonderful local growers struggling to find markets. This site is free to all users… “.
